Understanding the Basics

What Does Responsible Gambling Actually Mean?

Responsible gambling is about keeping gambling in its proper place — as one form of entertainment among many, not a financial strategy, an escape from problems or a way to recover previous losses. For millions of people, betting on a PSL match or spinning a few slots is a fun activity they do without issue. For some people, gambling becomes harder to control. The tools and information on this page exist for everyone, but they matter most when gambling stops being fun.

At 1wan, we believe responsible gambling is not a compliance exercise. The tools available to you — deposit limits, session timers, loss caps, reality checks and self-exclusion — are built into the platform because player welfare is a genuine priority, not a legal footnote.

Whether you are a cricket-betting enthusiast in Lahore following T20 internationals, a casino player in Karachi, or someone who plays occasionally from Islamabad or Peshawar, these tools are yours to use at any time without judgment.

The 1wan Responsible Gambling Pledge

We never encourage you to chase losses. If your session is going badly, 1wan will never push you to deposit more to "win it back." That is not how we operate.

We make tools easy to find. Deposit limits, loss limits and self-exclusion are accessible from your account dashboard — not buried three menus deep.

We act on warning signs. Our support team is trained to recognise patterns that suggest a user may be in difficulty and to respond appropriately.

We respect your decision to stop. Self-exclusion requests are processed promptly. We do not try to talk you out of them.

We maintain an adults-only platform. Strict age and identity verification prevents minors from accessing the platform.

We are honest about the odds. No game on 1wan is advertised as a reliable way to make money. The house edge is real and we state that clearly.

Your Control Toolkit

Tools Built Into Every Account

Every 1wan account comes with these responsible gambling tools available from day one. No request needed — access them directly from your account settings.

Deposit Limits

Set the maximum amount you are willing to deposit over a daily, weekly or monthly period. Once your limit is reached, no further deposits are accepted until the period resets — or until you raise the limit through a verified cooling-off process.

Reducing a deposit limit takes effect immediately. Increasing one requires a waiting period for your safety.
Loss Limits

Set a ceiling on how much you are willing to lose in a given period. When your net losses reach that ceiling, 1wan will prevent further betting or casino play until the limit period resets. This is one of the most effective tools for keeping gambling within your budget.

Loss limits apply to net losses across all products — sports, casino and live games combined.
Session Time Limits

Decide in advance how long each play session should last. When your chosen time is up, you receive an alert. Depending on your settings, 1wan can log you out automatically once the session limit expires, preventing "just five more minutes" from turning into hours.

Session timers reset between sessions — they are not a daily cumulative total unless you also set a daily time limit.
Reality Checks

Opt into periodic on-screen reminders that show how long you have been playing and your net win/loss position during that session. Reality checks interrupt the flow of play intentionally — a moment to pause, reflect and decide whether to continue or stop.

Set reality checks to appear every 30 minutes, 1 hour or at a custom interval that works for you.
Cooling-Off Periods

Take a short, structured break without going through full self-exclusion. Cooling-off periods of 24 hours, 48 hours, one week or one month are available. During a cooling-off period you cannot deposit or place bets, but your account remains open for account management.

A cooling-off period starts immediately on request and cannot be cancelled once active.
Self-Exclusion

Self-exclusion is a firm commitment to stop gambling on 1wan for a set period — from a minimum of six months up to five years — or permanently. Once active, you cannot access your account or reverse the exclusion before the period ends. Marketing communications should also cease.

Self-exclusion is a serious, binding decision. If you need it, use it. There is no shame in protecting yourself.

How Limits Work

Setting, Reducing & Raising Your Limits

Understanding how limit changes work is important — especially the difference between reducing and raising. The intentional asymmetry is a feature, not a bug. Reducing a limit protects you immediately. Raising one makes you think twice.

📅
Daily Limits

Reset at midnight (platform time). The strictest limit type — ideal for everyday control.

📆
Weekly Limits

Reset on a fixed day of the week. Good for managing a weekly entertainment budget.

🗓️
Monthly Limits

Reset on a calendar-month basis. Useful for players with a monthly budget in PKR/Rs.

⬇️
Reducing a Limit

Takes effect immediately, regardless of where you are in the current limit period.

⬆️
Raising a Limit

Requires a mandatory waiting period (typically 24–72 hours) and identity confirmation before the increase is applied.

Why the waiting period? A cooling-off period before a limit increase is a deliberate safeguard. It gives you time to reconsider a decision that was possibly made in the heat of a losing session. Most responsible-gambling frameworks recommend it, and 1wan enforces it.

Taking a Real Break

How Self-Exclusion Works on 1wan

Self-exclusion is one of the most powerful tools available. It closes the door on gambling access firmly for a defined period, giving you the space to address any difficulties without the platform being available as a temptation.

If you are considering self-exclusion, please take the step. You can request it through your Account settings or by contacting support directly. Our team will not try to retain you or offer bonuses as a reason to stay. If you need to stop, we help you stop.

NOTE
Self-exclusion on 1wan applies to the 1wan Platform only. If you are struggling with gambling across multiple platforms, please contact a gambling support service (see the Support Resources section below) which can assist with multi-platform exclusion where services exist.
Step 1
Go to Account Settings or Contact Support

Navigate to the Responsible Gambling section of your Account dashboard, or contact the support team at [email protected] with "Self-Exclusion Request" in the subject line. Both routes work — choose whichever is easier.

Step 2
Choose Your Exclusion Period

Select the period that is right for you: six months, one year, two years, five years or permanent. There is no wrong choice here. If you are not sure, choose a longer period — it is easier to review when you are in a better headspace than to undo a shorter one prematurely.

Step 3
Confirm Your Identity

A basic identity confirmation is required to prevent third parties from excluding your account without your knowledge. This is a quick step — typically an email confirmation from your registered address.

Step 4 — Active
Exclusion is Activated Immediately

Your account is blocked immediately. You will not be able to log in, deposit or place bets. Marketing emails should stop within 24 hours — if you receive one after this, contact support. Your account balance is preserved and will be returned to you at the end of the exclusion period or on verified request.

Know the Signs

Warning Signs That Gambling May Be a Problem

Problem gambling can develop gradually. Being honest with yourself about the following signs is the first step. If several of these apply to you, it may be time to use the tools above or to speak with a support service.

Gambling with money set aside for bills, household expenses or family needs.

Increasing your stakes or session lengths to feel the same excitement as before.

Chasing losses — continuing to play in order to win back money you have already lost.

Lying to family or friends about how much time or money you spend gambling.

Feeling restless, irritable or anxious when you are not gambling or when you try to stop.

Gambling to escape stress, depression, anxiety or other problems rather than for fun.

Prioritising gambling over work, studies, family time or other important commitments.

Borrowing money — or considering borrowing — specifically to fund gambling activity.

Making repeated unsuccessful attempts to cut back or stop gambling on your own.

Honest check: If you recognised yourself in two or more of these, please do not wait. Use the limit tools, take a cooling-off break, or reach out to support right now. Asking for help early is far easier than addressing the problem after it has grown.

Age & Legal Responsibility

Adults Only — Understand the Law

The 1wan platform is strictly for adults aged 18 and over — or the higher minimum age required by the operator's licensing jurisdiction. This is non-negotiable. Age verification is conducted as part of the KYC process, and accounts found to belong to minors are closed immediately.

For Pakistani users specifically: online gambling may be restricted or prohibited under applicable Pakistani law, including the Prevention of Gambling Act, 1977. Being of legal gambling age does not automatically make online gambling lawful in Pakistan. 1wan does not claim authorisation from the Government of Pakistan, the PTA, the State Bank of Pakistan or any provincial body to offer gambling services.

It is your sole responsibility to understand the laws of your jurisdiction and to comply with them. If you are uncertain about your legal position, please seek independent legal advice before registering or betting. This notice does not constitute legal advice.
